ABSTRACT

For each of the following people presenting with bleeding, select the most appropriate diagnosis. Each option may be used once, more than once or not at all.

1. A 62-year-old man is brought to the emergency department after vomiting large amounts of fresh blood. On examination, he is drowsy with a heart rate of 120/min and blood pressure of 92/50 mmHg. An urgent full blood count shows haemoglobin 6.9 g/dL, platelets 160 × 109/L, mean cell volume 106 and INR 2.3.
