ABSTRACT
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is the most common chronic disease of the skin, as well as the most common chronic illness of infants. Today it affects about 20% of all infants in developed countries, and is increasing dramatically. Together with allergic rhinitis and asthma, AD is part of the global epidemic of chronic noncommunicable diseases.
