ABSTRACT

The phrase Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders (ADRD) is used to dene a group of diseases that have one thing in common: each is a cause of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia. Dementia is a progressive condition with two or more impairments in mental skills that interfere with a person’s ability to function in his usual manner in his social, family, personal, or professional life. Just as delayed diagnosis and treatment of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and most other diseases lead to less effective treatment results, the same holds for delayed diagnosis and treatment of ADRD.
