ABSTRACT

Migraine headaches take an extraordinary toll in terms of cost as well as the burden of pain and suffering. In 2010, it is estimated that the healthcare costs associated with migraine were $4.3 billion, not including drug costs or indirect costs, such as loss of productivity [1]. Affecting 17.1% of women and 5.6% of men, roughly half of those with migraines have never been diagnosed, and only a surprising 12% use preventive treatments for their headaches [2].
