ABSTRACT

In the previous chapters, we discussed and assessed different techniques that are used to disinfect water for potable use. We have already weighed the pros and cons of most of the established chemical, physical, and hybrid techniques, and on the basis of that we can conclude that there is a need to explore new techniques for water disinfection. Cavitation is one such technique. This chapter essentially describes the novel and emerging technique of cavitation and its role in disinfecting water alone or in combination with other established techniques.
