ABSTRACT

Introduction Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorders (ASDs), dyslexia, dyspraxia, and pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) are labels for particular patterns of behavioral and learning difficulty. Differences between individuals are substantial and symptoms may overlap. Scientists and clinicians are beginning to move beyond simply describing these neurobehavioral syndromes toward understanding the biologic, neurologic, and genetic components. There is evidence of familial/genetic association between these conditions (Eichler 2008). A direct link between chromosomal deletions and ADHD was reported in 2010 (Williams 2010).
