ABSTRACT
The very first skills to learn as a new manager are communication skills. Listening skills are crucial to communication. There are a few accepted methods to improve listening skills. One is to paraphrase or repeat the speaker’s ideas in your own words. This assures the speaker and listener that ideas are communicated and understood clearly. It is also helpful to repeat key points to assure the speaker that she has been understood by the listener.
