ABSTRACT

The oil market, like the crude it harbors, is very volatile. A comprehensive decision analysis is essential to govern all facets of operations in the oil and gas industry. The industry is highly process oriented, thus requiring process improvement strategies. Understanding processes so that they can be improved by means of a systematic approach requires the knowledge and application of tools and techniques. The effective use of these tools and techniques requires their application within the context of ongoing projects within a practical setting. This chapter presents a collection of common tools and techniques for process improvement in project management, with specific focus on oil and gas projects.
