ABSTRACT

This paper is based on work that was conducted for the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), who funded a multi-phase research project into the impact of information technology on the human component of mission effectiveness. Throughout the course of this programme, a significant amount of work has been undertaken to construct predictive models of the principle human elements affected by the introduction of new information technology on the battlefield. These models are based on best practice and covered the two primary areas of workload and situational awareness.
