ABSTRACT
Railway workers in Japan consciously use “Point and Call Checks (P&C Checks)” in order to prevent themselves from making an error. Train operators, for instance, check a railway signal while pointing at it with their finger and calling out its state. Station staffs also confirm the safety of the platform with the P&C Checks and maintenance workers inspect their work upon completion with the P&C Checks.
