ABSTRACT

In 2010, no political party achieved an overall majority in the general election and the major Conservative Party formed a coalition government with the Liberal Democrat Party.

On April 8, 2010, the Energy Bill of the previous government received Royal Assent to become the Energy Act 2010, which implements some of the key measures required to deliver Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC)’s low-carbon agenda. The provisions included in the Act are discussed in the following.
