ABSTRACT

Lean is a term that is well known and dened as an elimination of waste in operations through managerial principles. Many principles are included in the Lean concept, but the major thought to remember is effective utilization of resources and time to achieve higher-quality products and ensure customer satisfaction. Remembering back, defects are anything that the customer is unhappy with and is a term utilized in Six Sigma. Six Sigma identies and eliminates these defects so that the customer in turn is satised. Customers are the number one focus and if they are unhappy, they will have no problem going elsewhere, which most likely is a competition for the business. Coupling Lean and Six Sigma will reduce waste and reduce defects. The concept will be called Lean Six Sigma going further.
