ABSTRACT
Gastric acid secretion is a complex, continuous process regulated by central neural and peripheral factors. Each factor contributes to a common nal physiological event-the secretion of H+ by parietal cells, which are located in the stomach. Acetylcholine, histamine, and gastrin all play important roles in the regulation of acid secretion (Figure 14.1).
