ABSTRACT
The Discrete Event System Specification (DEVS) formalism was first introduced by Zeigler in 1976 to provide a rigorous common basis for discrete event modeling and simulation (M&S) (Zeigler et al., 2000). A “common” basis means that it is possible to express popular discrete event formalisms such as event scheduling, activity scanning, and process interaction using the DEVS formalism.
