ABSTRACT

The study of attitudes has undergone many important changes since Gordon Allport (1935) claimed that ‘The concept of attitudes is probably the most distinctive and indispensable concept in contemporary American social psychology’. According to Stainton Rogers et al. (1995), psychologists have tried to answer the following fundamental questions over the last 70 years:

1. Where do attitudes come from? How are they moulded and formed in the first place?
