ABSTRACT

The loss, through death, of loved ones (bereavement) can occur at any stage of the life cycle. However, it becomes more likely as we get older. Some losses are more ‘non-normative’ than others, such as the loss of a child. This can occur at any stage from conception through to childhood and adolescence, and beyond. Miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal death are all forms of bereavement, as are terminations.
