ABSTRACT
To maximize the value of an upper endoscopy performed in children, biopsies are routinely obtained to determine whether gastritis or other changes are present. A microscopically inflamed mucosa can appear visually normal on endoscopy; conversely, a red-appearing mucosa may be normal on histology (10).
