ABSTRACT
Pancreatic digestive enzymes, as listed in Table I, are produced in pancreatic acinar cells and secreted into the duodenum in response to gut hormones, neural mechanisms, neurotransmitters, and other peptides-a process that may be modulated by circulating regulatory proteins, including somatostatin and the insulin, epidermal, and fibroblast growth factors (I).
