ABSTRACT

WOUND AND SOFT TISSUE INFECTIONS Patients with sarcoma are at increased risk for a surgical wound infection when any surgical procedure is undertaken. However, wound infections in these patients can have devastating consequences, especially if deep infection occurs that can affect an indwelling prosthesis or graft. This can lead to reoperation, graft, or prosthesis removal and occasionally amputation of the involved limb or entire hindquarter [4-6].
