I. Introduction
Functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) has been developed for use in
children since 1989, leading to new therapeutic solutions in rhinosinusitis
management (1). Given this new surgical approach, a clear definition of the
concept of rhinosinusitis in children seemed to be required, the most difficult
being to determine the place of surgery in its management. After excessive enthu-
siasm for surgery in the early years, indications have shrunk to well-defined situ-
ations. There have also been technical improvements, which made a minimal
invasive approach possible compared to the initial large surgical cavities.
