ABSTRACT

Therapeutic injections are convenient and an efficacious means of precisely introducing a medicinal substance, usually a local anesthetic or a cortisone derivative or both into a specific tissue site. They are used to act on neural elements, joints, periarticular structures, tendinous sheaths, muscles, subcutaneous tissues, etc. Thus, an extreme variety of possibilities is offered by this technique whose efficiency will depend on the choice of indications, choosing the appropriate tissue to be injected, the substance injected, and the technical expertise of the examiner.
