ABSTRACT

Cervicobrachial neuralgia (CBN) is a pain referred to the upper limb as a result of an irritation or compression of a cervical nerve root (C5, C6, C7, or C8). This compression is usually the result of osteophytosis, uncarthrosis (disco-osteophytic nodule or “hard hernia”), or, rarely, to a herniated disk. The herniated disk is seen in young people, while the osteophytosis is not seen before the age of 40. In some cases of common CBN, none of these causes may explain the pain.
