ABSTRACT

Just like chronic thoracic pain, common acute thoracic pain can be of cervical, thoracic, or muscular origin.

Acute thoracic pain most often takes the form of acute interscapular pain of cervical origin (Maigne). See “Interscapular Pain of Low Cervical Origin (Maigne)” in Chapter 36. It has the same signs as chronic thoracic pain. It can be the first manifestation of cervicobrachial neuralgia, which will occur a few days later, or can remain isolated.
