ABSTRACT
The skin is a major target site for bioterrorism agents due to both its size and contact with the environment. The primary function of the skin is to maintain fluid homeostasis while preventing compounds from entering from the external environment. Even with an intact barrier, the penetration through the skin is still the major source of absorption for numerous classes of chemicals.
