ABSTRACT

Ocular diseases affecting the retina constitute a substantial portion of inherited eye diseases. In this book, retinitis pigmentosa (RP), the large group of retinal blinding diseases was discussed separately in Chapter 10 and syndromic RP was discussed in Chapter 11. Macular diseases were considered in Chapter 8, primary cone photoreceptor disorders in Chapter 9 and inherited vitreo-retinopathies in Chapter 12. Night blindness and albinism, both affecting the retina, will be discussed in Chapters 15 and 22, respectively. In this chapter, diseases that affect primarily the retina and were not included in these previous chapters will be described. Some overlapping must exist, therefore a specific disorder may be discussed in two chapters.
