ABSTRACT

Right ventricular infarction is currently underdiagnosed and its significance with regard to an adverse prognosis is underappreciated. Numerous studies have demonstrated that patients with RV infarction represent an unique subgroup of infarct patients with a distinctive clinical presentation,treatment and prognosis.In patients with an acute inferior myocardial infarct (MI), it is estimated that 10%-50% have evidence of right ventricular (RV) dysfunction or infarction (Fig.1 and 2).
