ABSTRACT
A modern information technology (IT) department, supporting computer rooms, networks and the desktop environment, is a very exciting place to work. There has been and continues to be a proliferation of new technologies and innovative ideas in both hardware and software. The evolution of IT technologies has led to changes in the structure and culture of support organizations and the new skills needed by individuals to design, maintain and operate these systems.
