ABSTRACT
The breast may be absent or malformed due to a congenital deficiency, or it may be disfigured as a consequence of disease or injury such as post-burn scarring. However the majority of reconstructions follow breast cancer surgery. The goal is to construct a breast that matches the normal contralateral breast in size, projection/contour and texture. In practice, natural ptosis and a good inframammary fold are difficult to achieve.
