ABSTRACT

Seminal roots are also of embryonic origin, and their primordia are laid down at the scutellar node during the later stages of embryogenesis. e number of the seminal roots is controlled by several genes and is highly variable between dierent genotypes (Sass 1977; Feldman 1994; Kiesselbach 1999). Seminal roots together with the primary root are major determinants for the early vigor of the seedlings.
