cranium (usually the scaphoid fossa of the medial pterygoid plate: Gratiolet & Alix 1866, Sonntag 1923, 1924, Dean 1985; sometimes the apex of the petrous temporal bone: e.g., Sonntag 1923) to the pterygoid hamulus and soft palate.
