ABSTRACT

Accordingly, subnormal levels of serum androgens have been reported in women with increased risk of breast cancer29,99-101 while opposite findings have also been reported.102-105 In fact, most (if not all) of the epidemiologic studies reported have one or more serious limitations which compromise the possibility of reaching valid conclusions. These limitations include lack of reliability of serum steroid levels always measured by radioimmunoassays, comparison of normal control subjects with patients already having breast cancer and, frequently, small number of patients.
