ABSTRACT
There is degenerative change from either bone or soft tissue thickening which reduces the available space for the nerve root. This may be in the lateral recess of the central canal where the root passes close to the pedicle before it leaves the canal at the next lower level, or stenosis may be in the root canal below the pedicle (Figures 11.1 and 11.2).
