ABSTRACT

This book is basically devoted to give an overall understanding of in-sewer chemical and microbial processes including the conditions required for these processes to proceed. However, as a natural continuation of previous discussions and on top of this understanding, it is crucial to give both general principles and examples on how this fundamental knowledge can be applied to improve the urban wastewater collection system. It is crucial to remember that process engineering of the sewer network is the ultimate goal of this book and also in this respect parallel to how we consider and manage the wastewater treatment plants.
