The modeling and analysis techniques presented thus far can be expanded upon to design automatic controls, also known as compensators. Countless mechanisms and systems are automated. To automate dynamic systems, models are often used to predict the response to control inputs. Analysis is employed to characterize the response. The primary reason for automating a dynamic system is to ensure that the output response has desirable dynamic characteristics.
