ABSTRACT

Corrosion is the destruction of a substance-usually a metal or its properties-that occurs because of a reaction with its surroundings (environment), such as the physiochemical interaction between a metal and its environment, which results in changes in the properties of the metal. Corrosion may often lead to impairment of the function of the metal, the environment, or the technical system (Ahmad et al. 2011; Ropital 2009).
