ABSTRACT
In this rather extensive chapter, we briey review some elementary procedures for studying mechanics of materials with a view toward application with biomaterials. Numerous books have been written on the mechanics of materials with various titles such as Strength of Materials, Mechanics of Materials, Stress Analysis, Elasticity, and Continuum Mechanics, depending upon the emphasis. The references at the end of this chapter provide a partial list of some of these works [1-27].
