ABSTRACT

The time frame in which a solution to a customer’s needs is obtained through the systems engineering methodology is known as the life cycle. Also referred to as the System Life Cycle, or the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), the purpose in defining the system life cycle is to establish a framework for meeting the customer’s needs in an orderly, efficient, and safe manner. As we shall see in Chapter 3, safety tools should be integrated into the life cycle early and throughout in order to achieve this goal.
