Condenser: A lens that focuses light from the illuminator to the specimen. Depth of focus: A measure of how far inside the object the image will be in focus. Diaphragm: A device in a microscope that eliminates extraneous light from the
illuminator. Electron microscopy: A type of high-resolution microscopy that uses a beam of
electrons to magnify a specimen. The electron microscope is capable of magnifying an object more than 200,000 times.
