Embalming: Addition of a preservative chemical to the body shortly after death. Exhumation: Removal of a body after burial. Hyperthermia: Extreme heat. Hypothermia: Extreme cold. Livor mortis: Tendency of the blood to pool at the lowest part of the body under the

influence of gravity after death. Manner of death: The set of circumstances that existed at the time the death

was caused. There are only four manners of death: homicide, natural causes, accidental, or suicide.
