ABSTRACT
Network security comprises a wide range of concepts, provisions, and policies adopted by a network administrator or some management authority to prevent and monitor unauthorized access, misuse, modification, or denial of a computer network and network-accessible resources. Network security is the process by which digital information assets are protected. The main goals of security are to protect confidentiality, maintain integrity, and ensure availability. The goal of any security design is to provide maximum security with minimum impact on user access and productivity. The restrictive security model is basically a concept applicable for a network of any size. Security vulnerability is among the foremost concerns for network and security professionals as it provides a critical threat to the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization. Security policy weaknesses can create unforeseen security threats. Knoppix Security Tools Distribution is a Linux LiveCD distribution that contains many valuable security tools.
