ABSTRACT
The role of the interface region, which is shown in Figure 5.1, is to transport the ions efficiently, consistently, and with electrical integrity from the plasma, which is at atmospheric pressure (760 torr), to the mass spectrometer analyzer region, which is at approximately 10−6 torr.
