ABSTRACT

A transnational nature of merchant shipping and high level of its globalization cause the multinational character of competition amongst shipping companies around world. In fact, today not only companies but maritime countries themselves compete in field of marine transportation. Several countries are interested in bringing as many ships as possible under their flags. Thus, the attractiveness of their ship registers for ship-owners depends to large extent on state’s economic policy, especially taxation regulations for the shipping and shipmanagement companies.
