ABSTRACT
Under the leadership of HELCOM Expert Working Group on Transit Routing [1], [3], [7] the German Ministry of Transport Building and Urban Affairs initiated a study to cast lights on the use of traffic route recommendations for enhancement of the navigational safety in Baltic Sea areas. The objectives of the investigations were: to suggest a general procedure for evaluation the
present real traffic in area between the Kadetrenden and the Bornholms Gatt using Vessels AIS data,
development of different traffic measurements proposals
to calculate the different traffic scenario proposals benefits by statistical investigation
to prognoses the validity of favored route proposals for expected traffic profiles or density in future
to illustrate the efforts of traffic route measurements by comparison of various route versions The goal is to prevent and protect the natural
environment against a catastrophe caused by growing up traffic density, dangerous of cargos or
the installation of offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea area. Traffic flow conditions enforced by passive Traffic Routeing Measurements (TRM) have to be reached a very high standard and compliance of safety and lightness in shipping for each of all traffic participants.
