Quadratic irrationals

Quadratic irrationals are the non-rational roots of quadratic equations with rational coefficients. Integral binary quadratic forms, binary Diophantine equations and the theory of quadratic orders are central objects of classical number theory controlled by quadratic irrationals. In this volume, we consider quadratic irrationals as the central notion and rely on them in the other topics of the theory.
