ABSTRACT

Ultrasound has 96% accuracy in diagnosing full thickness tears. Tears are most common in the supraspinatus tendon, which roughly constitutes the anterior 1.5 cm of the cuff over the greater tuberosity. The tear may be classified on the basis of location as an anterior free edge, midsubstance or massive (when it extends across full width of supraspinatus and extends into infraspinatus).
