ABSTRACT
The theory of distributions is the language for a serious study of partial differential equations. Only tempered distributions are used in this book. The very minimal amount of distribution theory and the Dirac delta function given in this chapter can be found in the book [41]. More comprehensive accounts are [12, 23, 33].
