ABSTRACT

History A 56-year-old male builder is brought into A&E by his wife. Over the past week, he has been complaining of increasing headache and over the past 24 hours he has become mildly confused, and she has also noticed some weakness in his left arm and leg. The only other history of note is that while standing up at work he hit his head hard on a steel gilder, although this was 3 weeks previously and he had suffered no immediate effects. He has two children and is a non-smoker; he is on no medication currently apart from paracetamol for his headache.
