ABSTRACT

History A 67-year-old woman was referred by her GP to the medical assessment unit for investigation and management of anaemia. She had been diagnosed with a borderline anaemia for some years, but over the past year she reports worsening symptoms of anaemia with constant tiredness and lethargy. She now feels lonely, being unable to leave the house, sleeping off and on for most of the day. Alongside this tiredness, she feels her arthritis has been worsening and this has also limited her mobility.
