ABSTRACT

History An 82-year-old man presents to his GP with epistaxis that has been occurring on and off for the past couple of days. At worst it has been torrential, lasting a few hours before settling and then only with packing. He has not suffered particularly with nosebleeds in the past, however he has been unwell recently with a lower respiratory tract infection – for which he also consulted his GP – and wonders if his persistent coughing has resulted in this nose bleeding.
