ABSTRACT

In this chapter we consider the other voices that are important to this project, but not a part of the interviews of women that are central to our study. To better inform and to add meaning to the interview findings, here we examine the views of other parents, colleagues, and administrators. Each of their stories is important and adds value to this study. We listen to these other voices to compare and contrast their perceptions and stories with the interviews and themes reported and discussed in Chapters 6 and 7, and we listen to make sure that we are getting a complete picture of what maternity leave means, both in policy and in practice.
